Eighty Six Pieces Racing

For the Fans and the Dreamers

Racing isn't something we get to do. It's something that lives in every part of our lives.

Where It Started

A car blew up. We pulled parts from a BRZ, a GT86, and an FR-S — 86 pieces from three different cars — and built something that could make it to the track. That resourcefulness became the identity. Parts from that original build are still on every car we run today.

But the name stuck for a different reason. It wasn't about the car — it was about the people who showed up to help build it. The friend who lent a garage. The guy at the track who helped diagnose a misfire. The competitor who stayed late to help us get the car running for the next day's race. That's the culture. That's what 86 Pieces actually means.

Why Coaching

People ask us all the time — at the track, on social media — how to get started, how to go faster, what to buy. And the answer is almost never a part or a sim rig. It's seat time with someone in the car who can show you what's actually happening.

There's a huge population of people who think they need to build up a car or buy expensive equipment before they can get on track. They overthink it. They lean on internet recommendations instead of forming their own opinions behind the wheel. Our goal is simple: get you out on track so you can see for yourself. From there, you'll find your own path through.

Coaching isn't about making you dependent on us. It's about making you an independent driver faster than you'd get there alone.

Why Endurance Racing

There are lots of racing options. We chose ChampCar endurance because dollar for dollar, it's the most seat time you can get. A single weekend gives you hours of wheel-to-wheel racing — nearly four times what you'd get in a sprint series for the same cost.

The duration matters. Long stints engrain skills that short sessions can't. Little mistakes don't ruin the entire race — you learn to recover, adapt, and keep pushing. You make passes, manage traffic, and develop racecraft in real time. When you're competing for overall wins, you're driving hard for the full two-hour stint. That's where real growth happens.

The Team

Our drivers come from everywhere — spec Miata racers, autocrossers, and first-timers. The racing program is competitive. Not everyone who applies will be invited to race with us. We demand professionalism and results from our drivers, and they expect the same from us.

We're not just developing racing skills — we're developing high-performance athletes who execute under whatever conditions the race throws at them. The engineering, the strategy, the execution — we aim to be the best at all of it. At the same time, we understand we're all human and we're here to learn.

We compete for overall wins. But winning at all costs is expensive and we don't see value in that. If helping a competitor repair their car means we get to race against them the next day — that's what we're going to do. The sport is better when everyone is on the grid.

Where We're Going

Motorsport belongs to everyone — not just drivers. We create opportunities for mechanics, photographers, marketers, and anyone looking for a path into the sport. The more people involved, the stronger the foundation.

In three to five years, we aim to build an institution — a real pathway into motorsport for every discipline. Raise the sport up by strengthening the foundation it sits on, not just enjoy the perks at the top.

Pick Your Pace

Whether you're looking to get faster, get on track for the first time, or race with a team that takes it seriously — there's a path here for you.
